The department is equipped with modern hardware of the expert class to study functional state of the heart, blood vessels and respiratory system:

  • Functional laboratory for the study of the external respiration function - MasterLabPro, Erich Jaeger, Germany;
  • System of Holter monitoring CardioScan IY, Diagnostic Monitoring Software, USA;
  • 24-hour blood pressure monitoring system Oscar-2 Diagnostic Monitoring Software, USA;
  • ECG recorders, Hellige, Siemens, with automatic ECG analysis. ECG recorders МАС 600, МАС 1600, GE Medical Systems.

Functional diagnostics department of the sanatorium "Barviha" provides the following diagnostic researches, that are safe, high informative and can be perfomed repeatedly to the various patients' categories:

  • Electrocardiography (ECG). Method of electrocardiography allows identify changes that occur in case of acute coronary syndrome (ACS), myocardial infarct; identify different types of arrhythmias and heart blocks, electrolyte metabolic disorders.
  • Load tests (treadmill test, bicycle ergometry) - tests with dosed physical activity for the diagnosis of coronary heart disease, identifying of violations of the heart rhythm, determination of the tolerance for physical loads, and monitoring the effectiveness of cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation.
  • Outpatient (24-hour) monitoring of blood pressure. 24-hour registration of blood pressure using portable unit gives opportunity to register blood pressure fluctuations during normal activity, allows define arterial hypertension at an early stage, evaluate blood pressure during night sleep, and estimate the effectiveness of antihypertensive therapy.
  • Holter monitoring of ECG. Long and continuous recording of ECG during a day and longer, if necessary, for diagnosis of myocardial ischemia, including painless ischemia. It is used for diagnosis and verification of the nature of arrhythmias and reveals possible cause of the episodes of faintness, that allows control the selection of therapy.
  • Study of the external respiration function (ERF). Our department conducts an extended study of the bronchopulmonary system, including spirometry, spirography, bodypletismography, study of the diffusion capacity of lung tissue. If necessary, we apply pharmacological bronchodilatatory tests.
  • Ultrasound of neck vessels, arteries and veins of the lower and upper limbs, transcranial triplex scanning of the Willis artery Vascular ultrasound allows to detect atherosclerotic arteries, estimate degree of narrowing the lumen of arteries, identify vascular tortuosity, evaluate blood flow of the area, detect blood clots in the veins, and evaluate the blood supply.
  • Echocardiography (ultrasound of the heart). Non-invasive diagnostic method of congenital and acquired heart defects, cardiomyopathies, myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, pericarditis and other conditions.
  • Test with 6-minute walking with measurement of oxygen saturation by means of pulse oximetry before and after the end of the walk, ECG assessment with a view to determine the severity of respiratory and heart failure of the patients with COPD.
